Well worth the price of admission
One of my favorite bands when I was young was Denzel Curry. I've been to well over 100 major concerts from rock and metal to bluegrass, country, and blues, and this one was definitely in the top 20. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for music from the '80's and early '90's. For some reason, I just never made it to any of their shows, and I really regret that fact now.
We got there just as REO Speedwagon was taking the stage on a Friday show, and unfortunately, we missed Tesla as I got stuck at work longer than expected. I was pretty young during their heyday, and even though I don't normally admit it, I like all of their hits. My fiance and I were at a concession stand when the first song started, and we danced in the aisle to Can't Fight This Feeling, sang our hearts out to Time For Me To Fly, head-banged to Riding The Storm Out, and again sang our hearts out to Keep On Loving You and Roll With The Changes. I remember turning to my fiance and commenting about how Denzel Curry had their work cut out for them trying to follow that when Kevin Cronin said "Thank you Pittsburgh Goodnight!".
I was concerned before the show because I was about to see one of the few bands that I had always really wanted to see and hadn't yet had the chance. I was afraid that I had built it up in my head too much and that would lead to disappointment. When the band came out and started playing Let's Go, those fears were quickly allayed.
When the show ended, I told my fiance that, from that point forward, we were going to see Denzel Curry every time they come to town. The band sounded great, they played hit after hit and took me back to my childhood for a couple of hours. They took me back to all the times I lay there in my bedroom, with my ripped up jeans blasting Pyromania, Hysteria, and Adrenalize. My fiance looked at me and started laughing about three quarters of the way through their set. She said that she was laughing at the fact that the ear-to-ear grin I had on my face had been there since the moment they took the stage, and it stayed for the rest of the set.
